Introducing: Highlighted Posts
Every now and then, a post comes along that’s meant for big things. It could be pulling the wraps off your new project, promoting your next show, raising awareness for a cause, or just sharing a truly incredible photo.
Today you’ll have a new option to Highlight those extra-important posts. For one dollar, your post will stand out in the Dashboard with a customizable sticker to make sure your followers take notice!
Tumblr goddammit. We all know that revenue models are extremely important to appease investors, afford hosting costs, pay staff, pay rent at unnecessarily roughed up office spaces but this is completely half-assed. Time and time again with such a wealth of creativity enrolled at your doorstep you continually roll out half-baked bull crap like this blatantly to show efforts at a revenue model. IT’S HORRIBLE.
The only community focused and believable profitable move you’ve ever made is allowing premium themes. Lazily copying Facebook promoted stories is a wonderful thought but remember that promoted stories are also delivered in sidebars as well as the horribly annoying ticker. Currently the only force-fed content delivered by Tumblr is the RADAR which, let’s be honest, no one looks at. You effortlessly killed RADAR with infinite scroll but I’m sure you knew that.
I don’t need extra emphasis on my dashboard of people I already follow to highlight importance. I follow them. Isn’t that showing importance? If I needed a red notation indicating HOLY GOD READ THIS ONE THIS TIME I wouldn’t be following in the first place.
If you’re going to properly execute highway robbery $1 at a time at least don’t attempt to sell it off as a cutesy starburst. A good company brainstorm never hurt anyone.
Exactly.
